The Salt River First Nation invited Manasc Isaac to create a new Multipurpose Facility to house the Nation’s administration offices and Council meeting room. The vision also included a 400 seat Community Hall and leasable office spaces.
Designed to reflect the pride and traditional values of the community, the Multipurpose Facility has already become a landmark in the town of Fort Smith, where the Salt River First Nation is headquartered.
The building’s shape was inspired by the oxbow river form found on the original lands of the Salt River First Nation. This shape is referenced in the building’s plan form, and it also inspired the linoleum pattern, which depicts a river running through the building.
Scope: New Construction
Location: Fort Smith, Northwest Territories
