The Red Deer College Residence raises the bar for student accommodation on campus. With a projected completion date of November 2018, the project will initially be occupied by Athletes and Participants in the Canada Winter Games, prior to student occupancy during the 2019 Winter Semester.

The Residence is a product of Integrated Project delivery, and will offer varied spaces including 145 units, 7 gathering spaces, a reception desk, public washrooms, a communal kitchen, laundry facilities, study rooms and lounges. While the units, inspired by built-ins, the human scale, micro-apartments, air-stream trailers and pod will provide sanctuary for long-term users, the generous and compelling gathering areas encourage residents to connect and collide with each other in common areas.

The building is also designed for a sustainable future, based on renewable energy. Red Deer College integrated the scope of a new Alternative Energy Lab into the project, and consequently, the entire East, South, and West faces of the Residence will be clad in a vertical 163 kW array of photovoltaic (solar) panels.
